Kvartmarket — art fair in Moscow, November 28, 2020
On Saturday, November 28, a self-organized fair of contemporary art — Kvartmarket 2020 — was held in one of the new buildings in the south-west of Moscow. The format of private apartment exhibitions was familiar to unofficial Soviet art. During the pandemic, when all the museums were closed, when there was no opportunity to hold large-scale cultural events, self-organized activities became relevant again.
This time the exhibition worked as a fair and it supposed to sell prints. Therefore the form of installation has chosen to present the Soap opera project. Such simple decision with the frames on stages and the explication on the floor made an interesting effect of viewers reverences to “opera stars” like an idol worship ritual.
